“SUPER READERS – TO THE RESCUE.”
That’s just a taste but rest assured; I can do it all, backwards and forwards.
When I say my kid can get fixated on something and not let go, she makes getting a sock out of an Irish setter’s mouth look easy.
(My grandparent’s setter Trish probably died with that sock in her mouth. Call her dumb, but that’s commitment rarely seen in this day and age.)
I want my baby girl to be bold and adventurous and try new things and accept nothing and question everything. Live like a well-curated Pinterest board and just GET OUT THERE, MAN.
You know, the opposite of me. (And maybe not question me, like at all, because I am the boss and my word is law and fact and 87% right.)
It’s common to want your child to be more than you are and were, right? To dodge the obstacles you got stuck on and to feel more confident about the way they move, how they move and the direction they move towards.
Late summer always feels like THE TIME to do it all too. We know in Vancouver we have, like, 14 days left before the navy clouds sashay in and weep all over us until February. It feels like a mild panic then, scheduling out the scraps of time we have left so we can LIVE TO THE MAX, MAN.
Or. OR. We can snuggle beside each other, cue up Netflix Canada and watch TinTin solve some crazy crimes in a caper we are okay to just watch unfold. Or, try out The Hive. Or if she so whines wishes, we can watch another episode of Super Why.
I’ll hum along to the theme song, pretend to throw popcorn in her hair and blow in her ear when she shushes me. And then cross off “Hanging out with my Favourite Nerd” off my summer bucket list.
What I watched in August //
August was all Homeland all the time. The only good thing about me sleeping on it for so long was the ability to devour the first two seasons back to back. Get on this show before the next season starts in October.
What are you watching and loving on Netflix Canada? Keep the recommendations coming, yo!
As a member of Netflix Canada's #streamteam I will be giving you the straight goods on what I'm watching each month in exchange for a yearly membership. It's a match made in heaven, really.
