In 2014 I figured out a few things. The big takeaway was that one cannot blog in a bubble.
You need friends. You need support. You need love and comments and sharing.
You need to reciprocate.
You need to push yourself and be kind to yourself.
You need to remember - it's just BLOGGING.
Of course it's so much more than that, but when my head gets spun backwards from jealousy or I can't find the time to peck out something I am aching to write, it is just blogging.
It will be okay.
In 2015 I am going to try and find my pace, my end game and myself. If you happen to spy any of these things, I'll give you the moon and a subtle reach around.
Looking back, for just a second, here are some of my favourite words I wrote and shared.
:: that time I did karaoke with my unwitting kid ::
:: my first time on Scary Mommy was shared 65,000 times on Facebook (insert ah-wooga eyes) ::
:: on In the Powder Room I shared all the nonsense in my poor purse ::
:: more scary shit happened in the world so I panicked and wrote this ::
:: my most embarrassing moment was revealed to Kate Hall ::
:: cooking with kids is for chumps - i broke it down for a day in the life of a drama queen's momma
What else? I started a podcast with my brother, wished I was four, wrote a love letter to my best friend, cried about my kid entering kindergarten (next year), made fun of a Cosmo list, rolled my eyes at giving birth in the woods and lost my shit at shitty blogs.
Because she is the largest influence and inspiration for this blog, I asked Stella about her 2014.
Ayup. Cupcakes steal her senses evidently.
Next up (in like a day or two when my head stops throbbing), I want to share other people's words. Writing that was so good I wasn't mad at myself. I was just happy to have eyes to read their stories.
Now, stroke my hair and ego - what was YOUR favourite thing I wrote in 2014? xo
