(Confession: All I have been watching on Netflix the past few weeks is The Punisher which doesn’t lend itself to a festive recap. All the blood is certainly bright, but that’s all I got. I recommend it for sure, but for now, let’s talk about shows I don’t have to abruptly turn off when my kid wanders into the room.)
On the walk to school yesterday, where I vacillate wildly between feeling like "I’m such a good Mom, spending quality time with my kid and sending her off with my heart in her hands" and "HURRY UP OR I WILL DRAG YOU BY YOUR TOQUE TIES FOR THESE LAST FEW BLOCKS " a shocking revelation arose.
Stella had never been exposed to The Muppet Show.
Surely she knew Kermit the Frog?
Miss Piggy (her spirit animal if there EVER was one!)?
No Gonzo, no Animal, no Fozzy, no Swedish Chef NONE.
How had I completely forgotten to expose her to the wild world of Jim Henson?! What else had I failed spectacularly at as a parent? *inhales into brown paper bag for an hour*
Okay, she is potty-trained, knows how to spell her name, knows the capital of PEI and still believes in Santa. I think I’m doing okay.
Luckily *insert the sound of a horn being blown delicately* Netflix has my back.
First off, Christmas shows expire in my home on December 26th, so she wouldn’t be allowed to watch it for 11 months of the year. More importantly, I already made a list of the Christmas shows we are going to watch together for the next three weeks and there is NO ROOM for more options, unless we watch Netflix while we sleep, which isn’t a bad idea Netflix Scientists…
Here is how we are going to bond before Christmas, in between us sniping at each other about being grateful and sucking icing directly from the bag.
Home for the Holidays (Dec 1)
The Legend of Frosty the Snowman
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
And when she goes to bed, I will be enjoying one of my faves...
What's *your* favourite holiday movie?
As a member of Netflix Canada's #streamteam I will be giving you the straight goods on what I'm watching each month in exchange for a yearly membership. It's a match made in heaven, really.
